What
pre-fab means:
Pre-fab homes are constructed using the same building
codes and the same or better materials as conventional site
built homes. The difference is that a pre-fab home is built
inside a factory under climate-controlled conditions rather
than outdoors where adverse weather can delay the construction
process and damage materials. A pre-fab home is built in 2,
3, 4 or more sections, which are called "modules".
Pre-fab homes are the strongest of all frame homes built,
and are 95% complete when they leave the factory. The pre-fab
home sections are transported directly from the factory on
flat bed transporters to the foundation, normally a full height
basement. The modules are lifted off the transporters and
onto the foundation using a large overhead crane. After the
modules are secured to the foundation, a garage can be added.
Many pre-fab homes can also be fully bricked. Pre-fab homes
are available in 1 and 2 story designs, with a variety of
